

Pinewood Coaches for the 2010 Season
Let's all welcome our 2010 coaching staff. All have been Pinewood swimmers in previous seasons, and Paula has been an assistant and head coach for Pinewood in previous years. .
Head Coach: Paula Charbonnet This is Paula's second year as Head Coach of the Pinewood Porpoises. In the past, Paula coached for the Magnolia Forest Marlins as both a volunteer coach, co-head coach, and their head coach. She also coached at Pinewood for two years as an assistant coach. Paula will be entering her third year of Nursing school this fall at Nicholls State University. As a college student, she is active in the sorority Phi Mu, campus ministry, and school intramurals. In her free time, she teaches private swim lessons, swim laps for enjoyment, and spends time with family and friends. In high school Paula swam her Junior and Senior years (being the only member of the team and beating more than four teams as well as starting the swim team at Pearl River High) qualifying for state both years and placing: Junior year: 10th in the 50 yard freestyle, and 16th in the 100 yard breaststroke; and Senior year: 4th in the 100 yard breaststroke, and 9th in the 50 yard freestyle. Also while in high school, she played Volleyball: lettering for four years and voted to the All St. Tammany Team and District MVP her Senior year as well as serving as the captain of the team. She lettered all four years in Soccer and was on the Honorable Mention All District Team. In track she lettered for three years. In tennis she lettered for two years and qualified for Regional’s her Senior year. Lastly swimming has always been a part of her life, learning how to swim at the age of two and competing until she was eighteen years old. |

Assistant Coach Angelica Smith Coach Angelica started swimming on Pinewood at age 6 in 1997. In 2008 she swam on the Picayune swim team, then switched back to Pinewood the year after. Coach Angelica is Red Cross Lifeguard certified as well as CPR certified, and is a lifeguard at Crossgates for the third summer. Angelica attended Slidell High School and graduated in 2008. During high school, she lettered on the swim team and qualified/placed at state all four years in 200 IM, 50 free, and 100 breast. She swam for the Hurricane Swim Club for 5 years, and qualified and placed at state as well as qualified for the Sectionals Team and swam at the Sectionals meet in Texas 4 times. I am the STSL record holder for the 13-14 and 15-18 year old girls 50 breast. Angelica is going to be entering her third year at LSU and majoring in Mass Communications with a minor in Kinesiology. She would really like to become an event planner. She can't wait for this season, and knows it will be a lot of fun!! |

Assistant Coach Kacie Smith Coach Kacie has been a Pinewood Porpoise since the age of 5 in 1998. The year before joining the team Kacie wanted to be on the team so desperately that she would show up at her older sister, Angelica’s, swim practices and organize relays in the baby pool with the other younger siblings; this earned her the “Baby Pool Relay Award” at the end of the year, before even being on the team. Kacie was also a part of the Hurricane Swim Club for two years where she qualified for the USS Swim Championship and placed fourth and sixth in breaststroke events. She has lettered in swimming at Slidell High for the past three years where she also qualified for the State team. She plans on swimming for the Tigers her senior year. Kacie is CPR and Lifeguard Certified. In addition to participating on swim teams, Kacie is also a member of Slidell High’s chapter of the National Honor Society and successfully completed the community improvement program Juniors in Service. She has been on the Honor Roll throughout high school. Kacie has also worked at McAlister’s Deli for fifteen months and is very dedicated to hard work and strong effort. Kacie wants to make this swim season fun and enjoyable for both the swimmers and the parents. After twelve years of being on Pinewood, she has realized that swim team creates amazing memories and strong friendships that you will remember forever. Coach Kacie is always available to talk to about stroke techniques or swim team. |

Assistant Coach Emily Srofe This is Emily’s 12th season as a Porpoise. She is a member of the Slidell High School Swim Team. She is American Red Cross certified as a Lifeguard and First Responder. She was also a junior coach and won the Coach’s Award in the 2007 season. .Emily is also a member of Thespian Troup 775, the National Honor Society, and the Louisiana State Thespian Society.She is looking forward to a great season.
